Lincoln Square sits in Chicago's bungalow belt, and bungalows repair differently than newer houses. Brick, a story and a half over a full basement, a dormer in the front roof slope, and an attic and basement that were usually finished years later by someone else. Those later rooms are where the work tends to be: knee walls, low headroom, a basement bathroom, trim that never quite matched the original oak downstairs.
