Adapted Yoga: A Yoga Class for Young Adults with Intellectual and Developmental Differences with Chelsea Brown
This unique six-week yoga class series is specifically designed for young adults with a variety of cognitive and developmental differences. Led by Chelsea Brown, an experienced yoga teacher with a background in special education and a passion for adaptive yoga, this program is open to individuals of all abilities. Our movement practice can be adapted to a range of physical abilities, though this series will be focused on young adults who are able to to move up and down off of the floor with minimal assistance.
In this inclusive and nurturing environment, we aim to create a space where participants can thrive independently during the class, with minimal need for caregiver assistance. Beyond the physical benefits of increased flexibility and well-being, this series focuses on promoting emotional growth, self-confidence, and self-awareness, all while building a strong sense of community. Chelsea will be joined by teaching assistants, and the whole team are committed to providing a safe and welcoming space where everyone can find their inner peace and celebrate their unique strengths.
Students will also be able to attend the class virtually. For both safety and student focus, each virtual student will need a dedicated assistant. We will have assistants in-person who I will be guiding in real time, virtual assistants should be prepared to follow these instructions as well. We also request that at-home participants commit to having the prescribed yoga props on-hand. We will have a finalized prop list ahead of the series start.
Join us in this transformative journey to experience the numerous benefits of yoga while fostering a warm and supportive community that embraces the diversity and individuality of every participant!
We would like to make this yoga series as accessible as possible. Please contact the studio at info@bloomyogastudio.com with any questions.
