Joel "Pibo" Márquez is a Venezuelan musician and percussionist with a fruitful musical career that has taken him to travel more than 40 countries around the world, always praising and emphasizing the musical strength of Latin American AFRO rhythms. He develops percussion in the Salsa and Jazz genres as the leader of the group "Pibo Márquez y su Descarga" (Salsa) and "Los Manos Calientes" (Jazz) In his eagerness to spread the musicality of AFRO in Latin America has developed thematic as a producer of radio and TV programs, as well as documentaries. Every year the International Percussion Festival takes place in Barlovento (region of the central Venezuelan coast) where world-renowned musicians meet to bring their knowledge to the communities of that region. With regular "Pibo" it imparts workshops and courses of percussion in Venezuela and Colombia. He has participated in recording projects and live collaborations for artists such as Alfredo De La Fe, Arturo Sandoval, David Valentin, Dominic Miller, Cheick Tidiani Seck, Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, Chico Freeman, Naty and his Orchestra, Juanes, Guayacán Orchestra, Those of Below Mexico, Aterciopelados, among many others.
