Known as runzas in the Midwest (especially in the Omaha, NE area), bierocks are tasty meat-filled pastries originating in Eastern Europe. They were introduced to the US by ethnic Germans who settled in Russia along the Volga River prior to World War II. Made with yeast dough, ground meat, cabbage, onions and and other vegetables, bierocks are still enjoyed by Volga German communities in the U.S. and Argentina. So join Rita and your fellow culinary enthusiasts to learn the secrets of this traditional German favorite--with a twist: both meat and vegetarian options will be included.
Class includes hands-on instruction, Rita's recipes to take home, a drink from the bar, generous samplings, and of course, great company.
