Elizabeth Wilson: Hyperprismatic

Elizabeth Wilson’s Hyperprismatic explores the hidden vitality and personality of people, places, and animals in our everyday environment through a glowing color palette. Just as light passing through a prism is transformed from white into a rainbow of hues, the paintings and oil pastel drawings in Hyperprismatic depict their subjects in augmented, layered colors. These saturated, hyperbolic hues symbolize the vibrancy of life.

A Chicagoland native and city resident for the last seven years, Elizabeth Wilson initially worked as a cognitive psychologist researching the design of educational materials for healthcare patients. She first joined Lillstreet in 2010 as a student in the Painting and Drawing Department. Since then, she has shifted her focus to art but maintains an interest in how we perceive the world, currently through the lens of the artist as well as the viewpoint of the audience. With Hyperprismatic, she hopes the Lillstreet community will join this exploration of color and feeling.

The show runs February 5th to April 3rd.
