Kulturkueche- Birnen, Bohnen und Speck

DANK Haus German American Cultural Center invites you in to the kitchen to learn a not-so-famous specialty.  A very typical northern dish, "Birnen, Bohnen und Speck", that is pears, green beans and you guessed it -  Speck, a smokey, thick bacon.    Learn how to make this classic dish from Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Hamburg.
You will fall in love with this interesting combination; the slight bitterness of the beans, the sweetness of the pears, and the smokiness from the pork belly

There are plenty of hands on opportunities for students as well as tasting opportunities.
Nominal class fee of $16 includes demonstration, recipes, one drink and tasting
