Singer and songwriting master Marshall Crenshaw has roots in classic soul music & British Invasion song craft. He is a noted guitarist, perhaps best known for his Top 40 classic “Someday, Someway”.
Crenshaw will be backed by roots rockers The Bottle Rockets, who will also open the evening with a set of their own.
The FHSR is proud to partner withThe Old Town School of Music and Merit School of Music and to create the Music To My Ears Scholarship Fund commemorating the Foundation’s 60th Anniversary.
The Scholarship will provide a one year tuition-free early childhood music classes to children (ages birth–four) who are deaf/hard of hearing living in Chicago and the surrounding Suburbs.
Research has shown the benefits of children being exposed to music in early childhood, these benefits are increased for a child with hearing loss. From language acquisition to sentence structure, inflection and tone, exposure to music will provide indelible positive benefits.
The FHSR is proud to foster the love of music into children’s lives.
A $900 donation will sponsor a year of classes for one deaf/hard of hearing child.
This amount will allow children who might not otherwise be able to afford music enrichment classes to attend weekly music classes and experience the joy of music with their hearing peers.
ADA and closed captioning assistance will be made available.
