The Joys & Challenges of Aging Book Club with Carrie Waller
Bloom’s 2024 book club is announcing its final three books for this year. The book club, facilitated by Carrie Waller, focuses on the joys and challenges of aging. It meets six times over the course of one year (once every other month) and features six books covering a variety of aging-related topics. You can view the final three books in the series below. Each two-hour session starts with a gentle yoga practice, transitions to a group discussion, and closes with a short meditation. These sessions enable participants to build connections with others in the Bloom community who share similar their love of reading.
September 23rd, Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout Olive Kitteridge, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, later made into an HBO series featuring Frances McDormand in the role of the cranky and unlikable Olive Kitteridge. So, you’re in for the joy of reading a great book and the treat of watching the series with some wonderful performances. The book follows the Kitteridges over a course of decades, and in doing so presents a series of empathetic and honest stories about the people in small-town America and the large and small dramas, heartbreaks and joys in their lives.
