Pilgrim Lutheran School is seeking an energetic and organized Part-Time Physical Education Teacher & Athletic Director to serve students in PreK through 8th grade. This individual will lead engaging physical education classes during the school day, while also overseeing Pilgrim’s extracurricular athletics program, including volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track.
This role is a strong fit for someone who is passionate about youth development, and believes athletics play an important role in helping students build confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership skills, and lifelong healthy habits.
The ideal candidate will create meaningful physical education experiences for students across all grade levels, and ensure that Pilgrim’s athletic programs are well-organized, mission-aligned, and provide positive experiences for student-athletes and families.
This is a part-time position for the 2026-27 school year that reports directly to the Head of School.
This position earns 20 pay periods per school year.

Plan and teach engaging physical education classes for students in PreK through 8th grade
Develop age-appropriate lessons that build fundamental motor skills, physical fitness, coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship
Introduce students to a variety of sports, games, and wellness activities
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Foster an inclusive and encouraging environment where all students feel successful
Oversee Pilgrim’s athletic programming, including volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track
Coordinate athletic schedules, practices, games/meets, and facility usage
Recruit, communicate with, and support volunteer coaches
Serve as the primary point of contact for athletic communication with families
Ensure athletic programs reflect strong sportsmanship, teamwork, and student growth
Coordinate league registration, uniforms, and equipment needs
Maintain athletic records, schedules, and seasonal communications
Support planning for athletic recognition events or celebrations
Maintain safe practices during physical education classes and athletic events
Ensure proper use of equipment and facilities
Respond appropriately to injuries and communicate concerns as needed
Promote healthy habits and overall wellness among students
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration
Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and professional development as appropriate for a part-time role
Contribute positively to the school community
Bachelor’s degree preferred in physical education, kinesiology, education, sports management, recreation, or a related field
Prior experience working with children in school, athletic, camp, or youth program settings preferred
Experience coaching and/or coordinating youth athletics strongly preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities across school-day instruction and after-school programming
CPR/First Aid certification required
Teaching certification is not required

Maximum 16 Hours per week, schedule to be determined.
School-year schedule following Pilgrim’s academic calendar.
$14,214 salary per school year + $2,000 Athletic Stipend.
This position is eligible for paid non-working holidays as observed by the school.
This position does not qualify for health benefits.
This position does not qualify for Personal Paid Time Off.
