Lincoln Square Businesses Ask Customers To Shop Local Saturday With Fashion Show

LINCOLN SQUARE — Businesses along the temporary car-free heart of Lincoln Square are encouraging neighbors to shop local Saturday with a game of business bingo and to show off their purchases during an afternoon fashion show.

The construction-mandated closure of 4700 block of North Lincoln Avenue to cars has given neighbors a taste of what a pedestrian- and bike-only Lincoln Square could look like. But businesses have gotten a crash course in the benefits and challenges a pedestrian-only commercial corridor can bring.

While hospitality businesses with a liquor license appeared to do better with the increase in foot traffic, retailers fared the worst during the first car-free week, according to sales data shared with the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce. Read More Here.
