LINCOLN SQUARE — The $400,000 facelift of Lincoln Square’s main plaza will now begin next week after talk of delays, but the work will be broken up into phases so nearby businesses won’t miss out on prime patio season weather.
Construction at Giddings Plaza, 4733 N. Lincoln Ave., will now start Monday instead of in the fall.
Ald. Matt Martin (47th) has been setting aside funds since last year to remove and replace the pavers as part of the refurbishment of the plaza, which sits in the heart of the neighborhood’s main business strip.
Officials initially planned to close the plaza for a few weeks in August in order to have the work done before Apple Fest and avoid possible inclement weather later in the year. But that plan was scrapped after business owners along the plaza raised concerns about losing foot traffic during summer patio season. Read More Here.
