NORTH CENTER — Common Pantry’s recently expanded nutrition program is helping people learn more about healthy eating while providing hot meals ready to go.
The nonprofit food pantry has offered assistance to North Siders experiencing hunger and food insecurity since 1967. In 2021, it bought a commercial building at 3900-10 N. Lincoln Ave. for $1.5 million with the help of state grants to expand its work.
The facility opened last year, allowing Common Pantry to help people with housing information, job searches, government benefits, health care and legal referrals, services for homeless people and government documentation in addition to providing people with food.
The nonprofit is also now providing nutritional education, a program the staff created after surveying its clients, said Executive Director Margaret O’Conor. Read More Here.
